Two Local Companies Create ‘Dream Homes’ Together

Homebuilder Kent Homes knows what its clients want.

“They want gourmet appliances and features in their kitchen for someone who does a lot of cooking and entertaining,” said Carol Hobbs, Kent Homes builder representative. “Our kitchens are a huge focal point of our homes. Everybody gathers in the kitchen. No more formal dining rooms.”

That’s why the homebuilder whose homes can be seen in developments on both sides of the Cape Fear River from Landfall to St. James Plantation, turned to Markraft Cabinets to supply its Design Center. Homeowners can choose from six lines of cabinets in several styles and types of woods including maple, oak, poplar and cherry. Through Markraft, it also offers a high-end laminate cabinet made in Italy.

Kent Homes Design Center also offers a selection of hardware such as satin nickel and oil rubbed bronze door knobs and drawer pulls.

“We’ve already pre-priced out our plans through Markraft so when the homeowner comes in, they aren’t overwhelmed,” Hobbs said.

The most popular styles are raised panel and recessed panel cabinets with simple yet refined hardware, she said. Kent Homes focuses primarily on empty nesters and retirees in the “active adult market.” Their clients want their home to be low maintenance, highly functional and inviting. Wine bars, full ovens and roll out tray drawers are popular.

Kent Homes partners with Markraft Cabinets because of the company’s excellent track record.

“The value of working with Markraft is they are very flexible and can accommodate any of our customer requests,” Hobbs said. “The responsiveness they give us is really, really good.”

When Kent Homes updated its Design Center, it turned to designers at Markraft Cabinets to help select products that would meet their clients’ demands in style, functionality and price point.

“Because we build 40 to 50 homes a year, they give us a good price and we pass that savings on to homeowners,” Hobbs said.

The two locally based companies have been working together for the past several years.

Markraft Cabinets specializes in cabinet and countertop design and installation in both new residential and commercial construction as well as custom remodeling projects. For more information, visit or call (910) 793-2002.
