MarKraft Cabinets Acquires Kitchen & Bath Design Studio: Merger Positions MarKraft as a Leader across All Market Segments

Wilmington, NC – Two locally owned companies have combined to create the widest selection of cabinetry products and design services in our region.  In keeping with its vision to be a premier singular resource for cabinetry and cabinetry design across all segments of the market, MarKraft Cabinets has acquired Kitchen & Bath Design Studio and its lead designer, Meghan Lewellyn.  With this merger, the companies’ customers will enjoy key strategic benefits including:

  • Wider Selection: Products, services and resources will be consolidated to provide easy access to the widest selection of cabinetry products in our market.  MarKraft’s new 5000-square-foot Design Center, located on 2705 Castle Creek Lane, will feature the latest in cabinetry design at all price points.
  • Increased Scale and Enhanced Support:The combined company will consolidate its purchasing, design, customer support, and installation services to create expanded access to product lines, greater corporate buying power, a larger showroom, and the resources of two expert companies blended into one.
  • Expert Design: Award-winning Kitchen & Bath designer, Meghan Lewellyn, will join the MarKraft design team, serving as a lead designer for high-end home renovation and design projects.

“Kitchen & Bath Design Studio and MarKraft Cabinets are like-minded companies, and we share a common goal—superior customer service,” said Cee Edwards, President of MarKraft Cabinets.  “The blending of our two companies will enhance our ability to serve our customers by offering an unmatched selection of products and the best kitchen and bath design expertise around.”

For the past 30 years, MarKraft Cabinets (www.markraft.com) has built a presence in every segment of cabinetry sales and cabinetry design.  The company serves contractors, developers, designers, wholesalers, and area residents with a wide range of cabinetry products, design and installation services.  To date, the company estimates that it has provided cabinetry for more than 60,000 homes in the tri-county area (New Hanover, Brunswick, Pender).  However, in response to the 2008 housing market decline, MarKraft scaled back its high-end residential design and cabinetry services, focusing more intensely on the commercial side of the business.

Meanwhile, Kitchen & Bath Design Studio emerged as a strong service provider in that niche market, focusing primarily on residential kitchen and bath design for homeowners.   A fortuitous meeting sparked discussion between the two company owners at just the right time: as MarKraft was looking to re-launch a design center and hire new design talent, the owner of Kitchen & Bath Design Studio was looking to expand the products and services her design team could provide to clients.  The two owners will work closely together over the next year to ensure a seamless and comprehensive integration.
