Markraft Celebrates It’s 30th Anniversary

April 1st, 2015 | Posted in News

MarKraft Cabinets is opening a brandnew showroom featuring “the best of the best” products for kitchens and baths … its biggest and best showroom ever!

MarKraft was here:

• When Ronald Reagan was president

• Before Landfall opened

• Before I-40 opened

• Before Lady Gaga was born

Three recessions and six hurricanes later, MarKraft is still here. In those 30 years, MarKraft has designed and installed more than 60,000 kitchens and baths in Southeastern North Carolina.

“We are open for business,” President Cee Edwards said, “with all-new and updated displays” of brand-new products. “We’re all under one roof now,” he added, and the company’s kitchen and bath design specialists are meeting customers in the new showroom.

The Design Center is at MarKraft’s headquarters on Castle Creek Lane, just north of downtown Wilmington. It replaces a smaller showroom on Oleander Drive. “It has all new and fresh product lines,” Edwards explained, showing not just what’s already popular in cabinets, countertops, and kitchen and bath amenities, “but what’s going to be coming around the corner.”

For instance, he said, cabinet manufacturers are offering plenty of new paint options. “Shades of gray,” he said, “but also blues, spruce green, and other colors that go beyond plain white.” New design trends feature uncluttered lines without a lot of curves or embellishments, such as simple, contemporary “slab” doors and rectangular “trough” vanity sinks instead of ovals. “People want clean lines, rectangles or squares,” and are interested in distinctive counter-top materials, too.

The popular granite and solid-surface counters aren’t going away. But designers and homeowners can now check out other options. Those include quartz, soapstone and new polished-concrete surfaces.

Soapstone, Edwards explained, is a traditional material once used for such things as laundry tubs, now making a comeback. “It’s a really dense, gray or black material, that gives a whole different look in a kitchen,” he said.

The new concrete counters introduce entirely original looks, too. Some have embedded oyster shells; others include sparkly glass particulates.

Showcasing these innovative home-design ideas is important for Edwards and for MarKraft. He wants customers to share in the company’s anniversary celebration. “It’s a big deal that we’ve been in the community this long,” he said. “We are very proud to have been a part of this great community for 30 years.”

MarKraft’s new Design Center is at 2705 Castle Creek Lane, just off Castle Hayne Road. The center is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and evenings and Saturdays by appointment.
