Create a Stylish & Function Laundry Room to Make Laundry Fun

MAKE LAUNDRY (SOMEWHAT) ENJOYABLE

Let’s be real; laundry is the worst. If you’re anything like me, you put your hamper out of sight so you don’t have to deal with it. Some people enjoy doing laundry and claim it’s therapeutic, but for the majority of us who don’t, here are some tips for creating a laundry room that makes the process a little more enjoyable.

DECREASE CLUTTER

It’s well known that a cluttered space is not doing anything to reduce stress – and generally, makes it worse. Organizational systems in the laundry room can help make the idea of doing laundry simpler, and in turn less dreadful. Simply adding base cabinets to store and sort your clothes right there in the room will get the heaps of clothes out of sight and in turn makes the process much easier.

ADD A POP OF COLOR

Laundry rooms are usually tucked away somewhere in the house, not wide open and visible, so it gives you the opportunity to be a little more creative without worrying about it clashing with the rest of the house. Add custom painted cabinets, or a patterned backsplash tile to create a cool accent wall, because why not? You likely will not be inviting people into your laundry room (unless you’re showing it off), so the selections you make are strictly for you!

KEEP IT FUNCTIONAL

Of course, not every laundry room is larger enough to incorporate everything you would want it to. Adding a wood butcher block or stone countertop above your washer and dryer is a good way to have a folding space while still dressing up the room. Floating shelves with extra bins for storage are functional yet still aesthetically pleasing element.

Overall, the point is to create a space you can enjoy because let’s face it, it’d be nice to enjoy your surroundings while dealing with the tedious chore that is laundry.
